What's new?

Well, today was my last day teaching the 3-4 year olds. As of the week after next, the husb and I will teach the 9-10 year olds. Why not next week you ask? Well, we're going to Rolla next weekend to visit our Best Man whose wife had a baby in November, and she (the baby) will be blessed. (Her name will be put on the records of the church, and she'll be blessed by her dad. Some of you might know what I'm talking about.)

It sounds like I missed a good time this weekend, but I decided it was better to be safe than sorry. I didn't want anybody to get the Norovirus (see previous post), and I would not wish it on even my worst enemy. I'll spare ya the details, but it is not fun.

What else is new? Outside of all that, not much. I finally got my classes picked out for the next semester. I didn't do all that well in algebra, so I'll retake that, then American History II (took the first part in an intercession course). Unfortunately, I registered a bit late and those were the only classes I could take on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the times I needed. But there's always next fall semester. As a side note, congrats to Von, who decided selling leotards just wasn't her thing and will be going back to school in the fall instead, and finding a better job. Woooooo!

I guess that's it. I got one of my favorite movies (Dirty Dancing) for Christmas, so I am pleased. Oh, and I have plans for New Years Eve. We're staying home, watching movies, eating pizza, and toasting the new year with Sparkling Pink Catawba. Meow. =^..^=

Norovirus

My MIL had it, my FIL had it, my hubby's got it, and if I'm not careful, I might get it next. Nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration for one to two days is no picnic. I stayed up with my sickie all night and he finally got to sleep about 6 or 7 this morning, and slept for about six hours. He's been in bed all day, drinks all the water and juice he can, but is still tired and can't eat solids. Poor guy!

That being said, I probably won't go anywhere on Saturday, just in case. Sorry friends, but I might not be attending Jess's party. Hope the holidays were great, hope everybody has fun, I'll miss you all, and I'll see you around!

Holiday Greetings

Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Hannukah! Happy Yule! Happy Winter Solstice! Happy Human Light! And all that good stuff. I think I have all my bases covered . . .

Whatever it is for you, make it a good one!

The Infamous T

P.S. This one's for Moueska: "I wanna hippopotamus for Christmas. ... I only like hippopotamuseses. And hippopotamuses like me too!" Teeheeteeheeteehee...

"On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: a Japanese transistor radio"

That's the Jingle Bell Rock!

Wednesday night, Santa's going to come out of hiding to give presents to all the good kids in the world. But then he's going to pass me over, so I'll just have to get presents from everybody else. : )

I've been thinking the past few days (and boy does my brain hurt) about all the different versions of Charles Dicken's holiday classic "A Christmas Carol". IMDb has a list of about 41 different versions listed under the title "A Christmas Carol", and a couple more handfuls of movies with Scrooge in the name. According to my dad, it has to be one of, if not the, most plagiarized British literary works. And quite frankly, I have to agree with him. Along with this, I realized that I have seen seven different versions. Well, if you count one of them, anyway:
Scrooge (1970) with Albert Finney (The musical one)
Scrooged with Bill Murray
Mickey's Christmas Carol
The Muppets Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol (1984) with George C. Scott
Animaniacs Christmas Carol
Simpson's Christmas Carol

I know, I know, The Simpsons have not yet done "A Christmas Carol". Yet. My dad wrote a script for it, and did a pretty good job, if you ask me. I got to read it and play editor. :) I would love to see it on the small screen, but my imagination's pretty good, so that's why I counted it.

My favorite would probably have to be the George C. Scott version. Let's face it, he's the best Scrooge and that's that. :) No, I have not seen the Patrick Stewart version. If somebody's seen both of these versions and thinks Stewart did better, by all means let me know! If somebody can outshine Scott, then roll out the red carpet and let him stroll.

As we draw nearer to Christmas, I think to myself, "All I want for Christmas is two more weeks". But since I don't have the capability, then I better get my happy butt out there and shop some more. "Look out, I still got gifts to buy!"

"I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest."

Movie Madness
Oh my freak, that was a terrific movie! We saw Return of the King tonight. Althought I think my husband would disagree, I think it was better than the third Matrix movie.
I went with my hus, my family (minus my sister and her daughter) and three family friends. We stood in line for at least an hour to get into the theatre. My dad had the cheek to ask my mom if we could get seats not too close to the screen. Hah! There were a ton of people in front of us. We sat in the fourth row up front. The audience was very responsive. We all clapped when the movie finally started, and every time the good guys did something, clapping resounded from all over, especially when one of the female cast members completed a heroic act. All the women cheered. I'm surprised I didn't cry at the end. I could feel the tears in my eyes, but they were never shed. There were a few false endings (meaning it looked like it was over, but then another scene followed, but I was pleased with the results. The movie ended exactly the way the book ended. Well, the very last scene, anyway. Let's see Harry Potter top that! :)
I got bit miffed, but not at the movie. Some lady behind me took a call near the end of the movie. Excuse me! Sure, it only lasted half a minute, but don't you think she coud have called whomever it was back? There was, like, ten minutes left! Well, what can you do? Along with that, I recognized somebody I graduated with, who sat in the second row, and I thought I saw someone a grade younger than me, too, but I couldn't really tell if it was her or not.
Last night, I thought I'd check out how the Garfield movie's coming along. There was a teaser/trailer on the official website. If the trailer is any indication of how the movie will be, I don't have any intention on seeing it. Garfield will be CGI, and everybody else will be real. I sincerely thought that Bill Murray would be perfect for the voice of Garfield. Um, I don't think so. His voice was not mellow like Lorenzo Music's portrayal of the finicky feline. I don't know what Jim Davis was thinking in going along with this. Unless I hear some really good reviews, or I get dragged by people to see it, I will not be attending when it comes out summer of next year.
Anyway, go see Return of the King! :)

No Title :)
I have a two day break before my last two finals on Friday. Woo! I need it.
My algebra final was today. I got through it ok, althought I had to guess on a couple answers, but I figured guessing and getting it wrong is probably less costly, pointwise, than not answering at all. On the other hand, I passed the mastery tests required of those tests that were under 90%, which were all of them.
At the moment, I'm listening to some music while I do whatever. It's a genre not entirely known, as far as I know: classical techno. Yeah, so what? To each her own, right? I don't like country, some people do, get over it. :) Anyway, I found a few songs about a year ago, and I now have 6, along with a techno version of the song "Phantom of the Opera" (only Christine sings, though) that Jess introduced me to, and the techno opera from The Fifth Element. Beethoven's 5th Symphony actually sounds good with a nice techno beat. Night on Bald Mountain does, too. If anybody knows where I can find music like this, let me know! Unfortunately, there is no mention of any artist or anything, just the name of the song, usually followed by "techno" or "remix" or something similar. The stuff I have is off the 'net and I don't want to deal with Kazaa at the moment. Stupid RIAA. So, yeah.
Christmas is just around the corner (next week!) and I still need to shop. Might as well get on it. I'll see what my fam wants when I see them at the movie tomorrow. Might just get my brothers some PS2 games, but for everybody else, I'm clueless. Help!
Well, I'll let you get back to your lives. See ya!

This moment brought to you by "The Mystery Flautist".

Finals Week!

Well, tonight was the stake (like a parish) holiday music program, and my group did wonderful! I made a few mistakes, but nobody noticed, so I'm happy for that. There were twelve groups that performed and we went fourth. A group of ladies sang "Go Tell It On The Mountain", one group sang "Carol of the Bells", one couple sang "O Little Town of Bethlehem" in Spanish, and one guy from my ward (congregation) sang, "O Holy Night", and did a wonderful job. There was another instrumental group, a few solo pianists, one piano duet, a female duet, and two solo singers. All in all, it was a wonderful night. I was a bit miffed because they forgot to list me with my group. They put up the other five, but forgot my name. But then my hubby wrote my name in my program, and that made me happier. Yay, hubby! I deemed myself "The Mystery Flautist", at least to those who didn't know who I was.
Now I get to study for finals. Ick. I have one Monday, one Tuesday, and two on Friday. Wednesday I get a lift because a) I get to sleep in, and b) I'm going to see Return of the King! My dad got tickets for us for the first evening. Mu'honey and I are going to bug his friend who works at the food court at Ronnie's. Last time we saw a movie and bugged him, we got free food. Hmm........ Nah, we won't do that. Maybe.... :)
Well, better get to studying! I have to be up there about nine to talk to my math teacher before my theatre final at eleven. Ack!

Comment-age!

I finally figured out how to put up comments! All thanks to Moueska! *standing ovation* Couldn't have done it without ya, kiddo!
Now, my wonderful friends, feel free to bask in the glory that is the ability to comment!
I'd write more, but I have to get busy soon. Church Christmas party tonight, and we still need to get a dessert made. And I have to practice for my performance (tomorrow's the evening!), then study for finals that are next week. Then, no school, freedom, and a big bag of M&M's awaits me next Friday! Woo!
Later.

Let's try it!

Hello all. Since Tripod is being stupid, I thought I'd try this out, seeing as how Moueska seems to like it (read: she hasn't moved it since she started it).
I figure I'll try this out for a while, and maybe even keep it.
Well, that's it for now. I'll see about what I can do for comments. In the meantime, any comments can be e-mailed to me, if one sees fit.
Later all!
